Darryn “Captain” Yates

Co-Creator, Director of Marketing
Host of The Darryn Yates Show
Darryn Yates grew up in Granite City, IL. The oldest son of school teachers Carolyn & Ron, he was all about playing sports, blasting KISS records, and doing crazy s$*t with his younger brother Damon. He played football, baseball, and basketball; and he joined a rock band (Red Destiny) as their lead singer in 10th grade. Darryn started playing guitar at age 13; he started singing and writing songs at age 16. Darryn is still an avid sports fan; he is loyal to the Rams and Cardinals. Almost immediately after graduating high school (he spent 1 year at Illinois St. Univ. in Bloomington IL), he moved to southern California to pursue and live the dream in rock music. San Diego was his 1st stop where he sang in the hard rock band Silent Dream. The next stop was Pomona where he received his Bachelors degree in Communications (Radio/TV Production). Upon graduation he moved into a house with 1 actor and 2 musicians in Studio City CA, a suburb of Los Angeles. For the next several years he played in the bands EarCandy and Smackerjack and got fired or quit all the stupid day jobs he despised. Darryn did everything from substitute teaching in Santa Monica to driving strippers around in the Hollywood Hills. (He lived in other suburbs of LA as well: Marina del Rey and Venice Beach) Darryn also dabbled in modeling and acting, but the more he did that the more he enjoyed just being himself as a singer/songwriter. He also worked at the following entertainment companies: KROQ radio, MTV, ARK 21 Records, A&M Records, Capitol Records, Gold Mountain Music Mgmt., Saban Ent. (TV), etc. In 2004, Darryn started his own band and called it On Tracy Lane. OTL toured the west coast, released EPs, opened for several national acts (Avril Lavigne, Butch Walker, Local H, American Hi-Fi, Phantom Planet) and did a music video with actress Lacey Chabert. He has licensed many of his own songs to VH-1, MTV, and tons of other TV shows and commercials via his publishing company, Richmond Avenue Music. After getting his fill of the west coast, he moved back to the St. Louis area for a bit before setting up the OTL headquarters in Nashville, TN. On Tracy Lane then traveled overseas to Greenland to play for the US troops on Thule Air Force Base. In 2009, Darryn moved back to the St. Louis area and met his future wife, Crystal. In 2010, Darryn and longtime business partner, Jerry McFarland, started CAW Productions and started laying the ground work for what would become The Mayhem Network and The Darryn Yates Show. In 2011, On Tracy Lane recorded new songs with producer Noel Golden on the east coast. Also in 2011, Crystal & Darryn got married on Jan. 1 (marriage) and Sept. 24 (wedding). Their baby boy, Tayven, was born on July 3. In late 2011/early 2012, CAW Productions Inc. officially opened their doors. The Darryn Yates Show…The Mayhem Network… is the world ready? It doesn’t really matter…they just would like for you to join them, hate them, or get the $%*# out of the way.

Jerry ‘Beaver’ Wallass

Co-Creator/Creative Director
Senior Producer & Audio Engineer of The Darryn Yates Show
Lt. Jerry ‘Beaver’ Wallass grew up in Millstadt, IL and went to a small Catholic high school where he met his future wife, Mindy (more on her later). Jerry played soccer in high school and college. He also learned to play the guitar at age 14 and got in his first band at 17. He got his first Mac when he was 18 and has been editing video and sound since then. In 2005, Jerry met Darryn and joined his band, On Tracy Lane (more on them later). Jerry took a break from college and OTL and lived in Europe for a year to “find himself.” After traveling, learning advanced media techniques, and learning a lot of life-lessons, he moved back to the states where he joined Darryn and OTL once again. Darryn and Jerry moved to Nashville where they played numerous shows around the country, toured the country of Greenland (yup, the cold one), recorded with grammy-nominated producers, and slept on air-mattresses in a studio apartment where plans of an awesome production company were discussed (more on that later). When he realized Nashville wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, Jerry moved back to St. Louis where he and Darryn finally started their production company, which derived from the dungeon of rock in Nashville. Soon after moving back, Jerry married Mindy and are expecting their first child in June.

Co-Hosts and Crew that Frequently Stop By

‘Ball Licker Bill’ Delaney

Bill is the Decorator with as much of a potty mouth as Damn You Damon. If allowed he would drop the F-Bomb as freely as Al Pacino did when he played the role of Tony Montana in “Scarface”. But when you give him a 1.5 liter of Coke Zero you’ll see that you can pretty much manage him or get him to do whatever you want within reason. A Granite City native, Bill has come a long way. He saw that Darryn had made his dream come true when and where it came to playing the music he loved. Seeing that hard work and determination are in fact key ingredients to putting your name out into the world, Bill followed his dream and wrote the first of several books. His first novel “You Break It You Die” is available to be purchased, but Bill refuses to ask any of his friends to spend 49.95 on it and has taken to offering them free PDF versions of it if they really want to read it. Not having sold enough copies to make him popular or successful has not stopped him anymore than a severe lack of teeth and a huge gut. He has penned a prequel to his first book, plans a sequel, and is in the process of editing several other novels he’s already written. He came to the Mayhem Network as a favor to Darryn, who for whatever reason saw in him raw and passionate talent to make people laugh or even think from time to time and hasd not looked back, even if he misses a show from time to time due to health issues he deals with. He was a quiet man at first, according to him he was merely taking everything in before adding his quarters and fifty cent pieces because two cents was entirely too cheap for him. (An irony that statement given that he refuses to spend money unless he absolutely has to) Now, he is a voice and a force to be contained and controlled from time to time that adds the right amounts of humor with his overtly opinionated views on life, entertainment, and his consistent boredom with all things sports related. Ball Licker Bill is the Mayhem Network’s as well as The Darryn Yates Show’s film critic. He’s given a wide variety of movies and television shows to watch and usually has nothing good to say about anything. Although it has been noted that if he picks the show or the movie, he might walk away liking it. His long term goal is to stay alive just long enough to irk those around him that would like to see him keep his opinions about life, love, and anything else, to himself. In the meantime he says he’s having a blast hanging with the cool crowd and having a new and very dysfunctional extended family. And according to him, if the family stops being dysfunctional, then the ride he’s on will have stopped being fun and it’ll be time to get off.
